Money river, baby mountain, insanity cave!

posted Tue, 05-24-05

Derek and I were getting ready to go to sleep last night and were talking about the kids and how they are growing up so fast. Even though Aden is only 3 there are times I have to remind myself how little he still is; many days I swear he is ready to go to school already. And Lily is just... well, she is definitely a toddler and not a baby. She walks everywhere and I can't believe how quickly she has changed from baby to little girl. I asked Derek, "Do you think we'll be doing this again someday?"

My smart ass husband replied with, "Going to bed? Yeah I think we'll probably do this again."

I pretended to hit him and asked him if he could ever be serious. Of course I meant would we be having another baby someday, another little one who will grow up too quickly also.

It's not like this is a new conversation. We go back and forth on this topic, and I've already written one entry about it. Obviously it is the source of quite a bit of debate within me since I feel the need to think about it, talk about it, and write about it again and again...

So Derek said, "Well, I guess we have to get over this money bridge first, and then we can cross the baby bridge."

"Yeah, it's kind of like an episode of Dora where the map lays it all out for you!" I replied. "Money bridge, baby bridge..."

But Derek came up with the best version. "No, it's money river, baby mountain, insanity cave! Money river, baby mountain, insanity cave!" LOL

But what's he implying exactly? Hmm...

Tara- that's too cute and funny! Love the Dora analogy! Sarah is an addict.

Anyway, kind of exciting to know he'd be open to it, huh?

Oh and P.S. I see you have my old diary linked, but I am not using that anymore. You can link to my blog instead, if you want. Thanks! =)

Hi Jennifer-

Yeah, Aden likes Dora too but we cut our cable so no more Dora... except on Saturday mornings on CBS. I was more sad to loose the Backyardigans actually, I love that show!

But you are right, I find myself feeling a tad excited every time Derek makes a comment that he might be in favor of a future baby. Sometimes I think it might be insanity to juggle *3* kids but then I watched Aden and Lily playing and giggling tonight and thought how wonderful it would be to have even more of that going on in the house. :D

And I need to go check your blog for updates! Take care!

OOPS! I'm such a dummy. You already have.

Ignore the crazy, sleep-deprived woman...

What a great entry. Thanks for the laugh. I'm glad he is keeping his mind (and heart) open to another little one. Three is A LOT more than two, but wonerful still. Especially since you are better at spacing yours. After 3, btw, it just doesn't get any harder...

Hi again Khy!

Three is a lot more work than two, huh? Hmm, that scares me quite a bit for some reason! It often seems to me that the transition from no kids to 1 is more difficult than 1 to 2... so many things are easier the 2nd time around! But I hadn't thought past that too much. I do wonder sometimes if I am equipped to handle the chaos of a bigger family. I guess we will see where our path leads!
